How to use Qmanager to manage a QNAP NAS (2024)

Qmanager is a mobile app that lets you monitor and manage your QNAP NAS at anytime and anywhere.

Starting Qmanager

1. Please ensure that QTS 4.0 (or later) has been installed on your NAS.
   
2. Install Qmanager on your device from the Google Play Store.
   
3. Qmanager will automatically find every QNAP NAS on the local network. Based on the search result, select a NAS and log in with your username and password (Qmanager can only be used by administrators).
   If you have changed the administration port (default: 8080) of the NAS, enter the new port number.
   

Resource Monitor

1. You can check NAS system information in the Resource Monitor, including CPU usage, memory usage, disk usage, bandwidth, processes and online users.
   
2. You can see detailed information for online users and can also block unwanted IP addresses to protect your NAS.

Privileges Settings

You can manage the access rights of users, user groups and shared folders.

1. Users permission:
   • Create NAS users or manage home folder settings using button.
     
   • Manage privilege settings for specific users.
     

Field	Description
	Change password (up to 64 characters).
	Edit account profile: Email. User description.
	Edit user group.
	Edit shared folder permission.
	Edit application privilege.
	Delete user.

2. User groups permission:
   • Create user group in the button.
   • Manage privilege settings for specific user groups.

	View group details.
	Edit group users.
	Edit shared folder permission.
	Delete user group.

3. Shared folder permission:
   • Create share folders in the button.
   • Manage privilege settings for specific shared folders.
     

Field	Description
	Edit properties.
	Edit shared folder permission.
	Refresh.
	Delete shared folder.

App Center

1. Shows apps and services of QTS. You can enable/disable and install apps from here.
2. Select “More Apps” to see third-party apps that you have installed on your NAS. You can also enable/disable them.

System Logs

1. Connection Logs shows information about HTTP, FTP, Telnet, SSH, AFP, NFS, SMB, and iSCSI connections.
2. Event Logs displays warnings, errors and other messages regarding your NAS.

You can also use the drop down list to filter messages.

Backup Station

Monitor and manage your NAS backup tasks.

1. View detailed backup information.
2. Start/Stop the backup schedule.
3. Start/Stop backup tasks.

Download Station

1. You can use Download Station to manage the download tasks on your NAS.
   

Field	Description
	Start all tasks
	Pause all tasks.
	Total download speed.
	Total upload speed.
	Go to BT search page.

2. You can manage your download tasks. The top tab button can help you filter tasks.
   
3. You can search for BT seeds and add them to the download list. The sort button in the right-top corner helps you to sort your search results by name, size, seeds, categories and peers.
   

System Tools

1. You can eject or remove external devices that are connected to your NAS in the "Ext. storage" page.
   
2. You can manage the IP block list of your NAS.
   • Manually add a blocked IP from the button.
   • You can remove a blocked IP address by clicking the trash can icon.
   
   
3. You can control you NAS remotely in the System page.
   

How to use Wake on LAN

You can see the WOL function in Qmanager by clicking the ">" next to the NAS connection and by going to the "Server Settings" page. This will appear after the first successful login.

To use WOL, Qmanager and the target NAS must be connected to the same LAN.

Push Notification

The push service lets you receive notification messages on Qmanager if a warning or error event occurs - allowing you to quickly receive first-hand information from your NAS and instantly react to keep your data safe. For more information, please refer to the tutorial: "How to use push service?".

How to use 2-step verification to log in to a NAS using Qmanager

• Note:

• Qmanager iOS version must be 1.8.0 or above.
• Qmanager Android version must be 2.1.0 or above.

1. After enabling 2-step verification on your NAS, install Google Authenticator on your mobile device and configure it.
2. Connect to the NAS using Qmanager.
3. After connecting to the NAS it will start the “2-step Verification” process.
   
   • Verify another way: If your mobile device with Google Authenticator is unavailable, you can use your chosen alternative verification method.
   • Get security code: Applicable to the device that has Google Authenticator installed. This option will go to Google Authenticator. Long click and press “” to copy the security code.
     
     
     Note: The system time of your mobile device and NAS must be synchronized. It is recommended to use the time provided from the Internet.
     Note: If your device does not have Google Authenticator, selecting “Get security code” will guide you to install it.
4. Return to Qmanager, enter the security code, and select “Login”.
